Sarah Shekhter Recognized as a San Diego Business Journal Top 100 Leader in Law
Seltzer Caplan McMahon Vitek Shareholder Sarah M. Shekhter is one of the San Diego Business Journal’s 100 Top Leaders in Law for 2023! A litigator who focuses on white collar criminal defense and complex business real estate matters for both individuals and corporations, Sarah has successfully tried nearly 45 cases to jury verdict and resolved about 2,000 cases before trial.
“A State Bar of California certified Criminal Law Specialist, Sarah is committed to helping clients with their most challenging and sensitive legal disputes,” the publication wrote, noting her extensive criminal defense background that includes working for the San Diego County Office of the Primary Public Defender for six years.
This year, Sarah won a jury verdict in a complex real estate case that involved 10 causes of action, a cross-complaint, multiple government entities and the potential for $1 million in liability. Her recent cases have also included an effective defense in a high-profile Ponzi scheme matter, a successful bench verdict in a lawsuit over $5 million in promissory note payment claims and a favorable settlement against RICO violation claims against cannabis dispensaries.
“Her passion for advocacy is mirrored in the organizations she chooses to contribute her time to, including the Jewish Federation of San Diego board of directors and Kindness Initiative,” the publication added. Indeed, Sarah has voluntarily dedicated herself to these organizations and others that support the Jewish community from San Diego to Ukraine.
Earlier this year, Sarah was also named a Woman of Influence in Law by the SDBJ.
