The Law at Work: What to watch as the Google memo writer’s lawsuit unfolds

In his The Law at Work Column in the San Diego Union-Tribune, Shareholder Dan Eaton examines a recent lawsuit filed by two former Google software engineers against Google. Both former employees believe they were fired because they are conservative white men out of step with Google’s dominant ideology. The two engineers assert some claims on behalf of themselves and some claims on behalf of a class of others who may have been discriminated on the same basis they allege that they were.

It is unknown at this time exactly what wrongs will be decided, whose wrongs and injuries will be decided, and who will do the deciding. However, according to Dan, what can be said is that in our fraught cultural and political moment, this case is worthy of attention -- right from the start.
